Earth Day Beach Cleanup

Join the Port Townsend Marine Science Center for their upcoming Earth Day Beach Cleanup

April 20th
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

This Earth Day, let’s work together to keep our oceans healthy.

In partnership with WA CoastSavers and the JeffCo Trash Task Force, join PTMSC as we work together to clean up local beaches and roadways. Learn about the impact of past cleanups on our webpage, Coastal Cleanups.

This year, we will be hosting cleanups at multiple locations! Join us at either of our check-in locations:
Fort Worden State Park or Chimacum Corner Farmstand.

Check-in locations

At these, you will be given directions to beach locations and supplies like trash bags and gloves.

Fort Worden State Park:

  • From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., you will find our check-in table outside the PTMSC Museum Building. This is the second building on the left, past the pier.

  • From here, we will be sending participants to local beaches throughout Port Townsend.

Chimacum Corner Farmstand:

  • From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. you will find our check-in table in the parking lot at 9122 Rhody Dr.

  • From here, participants will have three cleanup options.

  • Option 1 – Beach Cleanup! We will send participants to local beaches throughout the greater Port Hadlock area.

  • Option 2Roadside Cleanup! We are partnering with JeffCo Trash Task Force and will send volunteers out to pick up debris along pre-selected roads. This means we can collect trash before it becomes marine debris!

  • Option 3 – Remote Cleanup! Are you feeling up for trekking a few miles on the beach and carrying a load of debris on your back? Well, this option is for you! We are putting together one or two small groups to clean up more remote beach locations. For more information on what this would entail, reach out to Mandi at mjohnson@ptmsc.org.

Return to your check-in location

  • Return and we will weigh your accomplishments!

  • As our way of saying thanks, the first 100 participants will receive a free pass to the PTMSC Aquarium and Museum, a $5 Gift Card for the PT Food Coop, and $1 off coupon for any item at the Keg and I.
