The Wellness Department at Port Townsend Food Co-op is where you will find personal care products, supplements, mercantile, books, cards, and bulk herbs and spices.

While we cannot address your health issues with specific advice, you may find helpful information in our Healthnotes database.

We choose supplements based on their efficacy. We review manufacturers’ practices including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), ownership, ingredients, and formulas that are science-based and free from contaminants.  Our own in-house brand is made by Vitamer, a family-owned company for four generations. We look for organic options when available. We also feature Mountain Spirit tinctures and salves made locally by Denise Joy.

We offer a wide variety of personal care products including: hair brushes, feminine hygiene products, face and body care products, and essential oils. We stock bulk products too:  hair care products, Dr. Bronner’s, Giovanni, and Shikai lotions.

Try our own Co-op Organics brand made for us by Lyn Fas of Bunny’s Bath located here in Pt. Townsend – organic and fragrance-free lotion, castile soap, body and bath soap, lip balms and skin balm.  Other local vendors, all located in one of our five surrounding counties, include Oasis Naturals from Sequim, Herbalix from Port Ludlow, Townsend Bay soaps and lotions from Port Townsend.

Our mercantile department focuses on household items for a clean, green home and fair trade. We stock glass containers to replace plastic; recycled glasses and mugs, eco-friendly ICU reading glasses, large and small woven grass baskets from Africa, seasonal accessories such as gardening gloves, wool from Peru for winter warmth, stainless steel water bottles, and more.

We have a lovely group of card artists as well as cards from local artists.

Our books focus on reference books, cookbooks, as well as seasonal books – gardening and canning in the summer. Food preserving in the fall, books on homeopathy, herbs, and Bach flower remedies year round.

We have 186 bulk herbs and spices and 60 bulk teas. The majority are organic.
