Welcome to the Port Townsend Food Co-op!
Port Townsend Food Co-op was started in 1972 when a few Port Townsend High School graduates pooled $200 and drove to Seattle to buy bulk quantities of millet and other hard-to-find whole foods. Today, we’re a one-stop natural foods consumer cooperative serving over 7,000 co-owners with annual sales of $11 million. Our owners directly choose leadership for their store in annual democratic elections for the board of directors.
We’re proud to make available to our community fair-priced local and organic products every day and you don’t have to be an owner to shop: the entire community benefits by being able to purchase delicious, minimally processed whole foods made without harmful chemicals or additives. Try our made-from-scratch Co-op Kitchen deli foods for a quick healthy meal! We also have the only WSDA certified organic produce department on the Olympic Peninsula and our friendly employees love to help you find specialty items or special diet products.
We’re working hard toward a sustainable local economy by providing over 90 jobs and through our participation in the Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association (FTSLA), a non-profit trade association dedicated to helping the organic food trade transition to more sustainable practices. We contribute every day to our local community by supporting local organizations, educating the public about food, and participating in environmental awareness.
