Meet the New Owners of Elevated Ice Cream & Candy Shop

Elevated.JPG

Shirlena and Josh Freund are the new owners of Elevated Ice Cream & Candy Shop. They purchased the business in January from the original owners, David and Julie McCulloch. It had been a dream of theirs to own a business and live in this town. Josh lived in Port Townsend for part of his childhood. Some of his earliest memories include being at places here in Port Townsend, such as riding the ferry which used to land next to Elevated Ice Cream. Josh moved away to Friday Harbor in his Sophomore year of high school where he met Shirlena. The couple has been together since they were teens. They have memories of coming to Elevated Ice Cream together on some dates when they were in town to visit Josh’s family. Elevated has been a special place for them and for many who appreciate its constant presence in Port Townsend. The Freunds were drawn to Elevated Ice Cream as a business because of the high quality of ice cream. As foodies, they are passionate about good food and real ingredients from local farmers. With the recent dine-in restaurant closures, they saw a decrease in business so they decided to expand the wholesale side of the business, making Elevated Ice Cream quarts more accessible to customers at grocery stores. They are excited to have their products available at the Port Townsend Food Co-op!
