Strong Co-ops Need Strong Boards

Board work in the time of Covid is a very different animal. It’s easier because the meetings are all online, but it’s harder… because the meetings are all online. It’s stressful because the consequences are so critical, but it’s extra rewarding because the Co-op is doing such important work. It’s gratifying because the world has finally acknowledged that grocery staff are essential workers. Even more, it’s uplifting to see how graciously and bravely our incredible staff fulfill their work.

Which is to say that the pandemic changes everything but at the same time underscores what we already knew: Co-ops are incredibly important.

And co-ops are democratic organizations that rely on their members to step up to board work to help keep the cooperative strong. So if you are interested in serving on the board, or know someone who would make a great cooperative (in all senses of the word) board member, email us at coopboard@foodcoop.coop for information on serving on the board.

Thank you!
