Children in foster care deserve nothing but the very best - they deserve caregivers so well-prepared, so trauma-informed, and so well-supported that all they have to do is be themselves and get through the most difficult time of their lives. They deserve so much love waiting for them on the other side of what they're going through.
Olympic Angels exists to radically improve the foster care experience for children and families on the Olympic Peninsula. Funding will activate community volunteers to further improve foster care in Jefferson & Clallam Counties. We live in a uniquely difficult place to be a child in foster care, where there is a consistent lack of available foster homes. It is not uncommon for kids to be moved hundreds of miles away because there simply is no place for them. So, when a family is referred to our programs, our goal is to support them in the most meaningful ways possible - through monthly intentional giving customized to a family's particular needs, and by lifting up the entire family with friendship and support. Teens in care are also matched with their own dedicated mentor to help them navigate becoming young adults. Only a few choose to step into being a foster parent - it's up to the rest of us to keep them going.
