Jan/Feb Beans for Bags Spotlight: Olympic Community Action Partnership (OlyCAP)

In 2025, OlyCAP is poised for a year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful impact across the Olympic Peninsula. Building on a legacy of service that began in 1966, OlyCAP continues to meet the evolving needs of families and individuals in Clallam and Jefferson counties. With over 160 dedicated professionals and decades of experience, the organization remains committed to addressing critical issues such as affordable housing, food security, and energy assistance.

OlyCAP’s roots trace back to the Clallam-Jefferson Community Action Council, founded by local citizens who recognized the pressing challenges of poverty in the region. A comprehensive needs assessment conducted by individuals who had personally experienced poverty revealed a need for more than just food and shelter. People wanted opportunities for education, job training, and pathways to financial independence. This vision shaped OlyCAP's mission to not only provide immediate assistance but to help people transform their lives.

As we look ahead to 2025, OlyCAP’s initiatives focus on expanding housing programs, strengthening early learning opportunities through Head Start and Early Head Start, and growing energy assistance services to help more households stay warm and safe. Partnerships with local farms and food banks are also deepening, ensuring access to nutritious meals for everyone in need.

Funds raised through community efforts, such as those at the co-op, play a crucial role in supporting these essential services. Every dollar helps reduce homelessness, address hunger, and foster economic stability—creating a brighter future for all.

OlyCAP’s mission, forged over 55 years ago, remains the same: to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build resilient, equitable communities on the Olympic Peninsula.

Join us in 2025 as we continue this transformative work.
