START YOUR ZERO WASTE JOURNEY!
MAKE YOUR OWN WASTE REDUCTION SHOPPING KITS!
Thursday, January 2nd, 2020
Free
The Food Co-op Annex, 2110 Lawrence Street, Port Townsend
11am -1pm
We will be focusing on easy ways to prepare yourself for daily/weekly trips to the grocery store. Combining what you already have in your home with a few supplementary materials, we will craft a full set of recycled, environmentally friendly and reusable products. From grocery bags made out of old tee-shirts, to bee’s wax wrap, to labeled, recycled jars, we will sew, snip, tie and dip our way to sustainability. We know that it’s easy to forget your bags or your empty jars for peanut butter at home, but after
today you will have a shopping kit all ready to go either by your door or in your car whenever you need to pick up some groceries for your week. The average family takes home 1,500 plastic shopping bags a year according to the Center for Biological Diversity and grocery stores are a large contributor. It is
vastly overwhelming to look at the big picture, but if each of us take small steps in order to minimize our waste, the impact will be huge.
