The Food Co-op has had a report of a staff person who has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee was last in our store 5 days ago, on January 11th.

Since being notified by the employee the Co-op is in the process of contacting with the Jefferson County Health Department. Previously, they had informed us that our current, rigorous COVID-19 screening process and cleaning protocols are sufficient to address the situation and that no other action is required. Additionally, they’ve indicated that no other staff member needed to self-quarantine if they are asymptomatic. The staff person reported no close contact with other staff and wore a mask at all times.

The staff person who tested positive is receiving care and will not return to work until guidance from the public health officials allow it. The Food Co-op is following the guidelines of the CDC and the federal and local governments to protect the individual and ensure they do not lose wages as a result of these steps
