Nov/Dec Beans For Bags Spotlight: Food Bank Growers

The Food Bank Growers and the PT Gleaners work together on the same mission -- to provide food for those in need at the food banks and other locations.  In 2023 we grew/gave 20,000 pounds of produce to the Food Banks and Schools. The PT Gleaners collected 20,000 more pounds which were given to schools, senior centers, and other non-profits.

This year we launched two new Food Bank Gardens -- one a converted private garden and the other at FairWinds winery covering 6000 square feet.

We also support the Salish Production Garden (2 years), the PT High School Garden (10 years), and the Blue Heron Orchards (12 years). So far about 7,000 pounds of produce has come out of these places and into the PT School meal program. These programs not only feed kids today, but also teach students how to grow their own food and understand the importance of giving back to the community.

We are always looking for volunteers who want to grow, gather, and give back. For more details on how to volunteer visit: https://www.foodbankgrowers.org/help-us-grow
