From the Board: Starting the New Year with Mission and Principles – and you are invited!
This winter, the board is in the process of reviewing The Food Co-op’s mission and principles statements. Our goal is to build a shared understanding among all our stakeholders of why we do what we do together.
One of the ways we’ll do this is by drafting clearer language that will make these important statements more effective.
Here’s our current mission statement:
“Seeking to uphold the health of our community and world, The Food Co-op, a consumer
co-operative, serves our membership by making available reasonably priced whole
foods and other basic goods and resources by means of our life-affirming democratic
organization.”
Here are some ways that you can participate in this important conversation:
Attend our monthly board meeting on January 8th, 5:30pm. We recommend reading the board packet (available at the store) ahead of time, since there is homework for everyone!
Visit us during our Mission and Principle’s member engagement session in the store on January 22nd 10:00am –12:00pm, and/or January 27th 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
